Code Enforcement Office
Code Enforcement is responsible for enforcing the City's Nuisance/Property Enhancement, Rental Housing, and Zoning codes. The code enforcement officer on both a complaint-driven and pro-active basis investigates violations of these codes. |
The purpose of Code Enforcement ordinances are to promote the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Russellville. Also, to protect neighborhoods against hazardous, blighting and deteriorating influences or conditions that contribute to the downgrading of neighborhood property values.
The Code Enforcement Division enforces the following codes: Nuisance/Property Enhancement, Rental Housing, and Zoning.
The Nuisance and Property Enhancement ordinances are enforced on a complaint basis and proactively (inspector initiates a complaint). This code pertains primarily to violations that can be seen from the street. This code regulates junk vehicles yard, junk, debris and trash in the front yard, trees or shrubs that are overgrown and blocking pedestrian or vehicular traffic, grass and weeds over 10" in height, dead trees, bushes and shrubs, unsecured swimming pool gates and commercial vehicles. If an offending party fails to remove the violation after receiving two citations, criminal charges may be filed.
The Nuisance and Property Enhancement violations includes the following violations:
- Dangerous or abandoned buildings
- Junk yards
- Abandoned or unsecured refrigerators
- Deteriorated fences and walls
- Auto Parts
- Deteriorated Landscaping
- Grass-Weeds (over 10")
- Junk Vehicles
- Obstruction of Sidewalk
- Excessive Litter or Debris
- Swimming Pool Gates and Fences
- Parking Lots
- Business Permits
Please note that Code Enforcement does not respond to violations regarding streets (479) 968-2406 or domestic noise (479) 968-3232. You should contact Public Works and Police Department to report those violations.
